JANUARY 2006

• Michael Caddell, Cynthia Chapman, and John Scofield were recognized by H Texas magazine as among "Houston's Best Lawyers for the People." H Texas magazine reportedly received 7,000 nominations and recognized only 168 attorneys.

MARCH 2006

•  Michael Caddell, Cynthia Chapman, and George Nino of Caddell & Chapman represented Tetco Stores, L.P. and Spot Services, L.P. in a business dispute against Exxon Mobil Oil Corporation. After a five‑week trial in San Antonio, Texas, the jury rendered a $33.6 million verdict against Exxon Mobil Oil Corporation and in favor of Tetco Stores and Spot Services. According to Verdict Search, the $33.6 million verdict was the 10th largest verdict in Texas in 2006 and the 52nd largest verdict in the United States.

• Michael Caddell and Cynthia Chapman represented 26 workers who received significant injuries in the deadly explosion at the British Petroleum plant in Texas City, Texas on March 23, 2005. All 26 clients of Caddell & Chapman agreed to favorable settlement terms. The details of the settlement are confidential.

OCTOBER 2006

• Preliminary approval of settlement in national class action against Toshiba for defects involving system defects to roughly 900,000 Toshiba notebook computers.

On October 13, 2006, a United States District Judge in the Central District of California denied Defendant Trans Union's motion to dismiss the claims of Caddell & Chapman's client and the putative class he seeks to represent in Hernandez v. Equifax, et al. Hernandez is a nationwide class action filed against the three largest credit reporting agencies in the country, Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. Caddell & Chapman contends that these Defendants violate federal law when they publish inaccurate credit reports concerning consumers who receive a Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharge of their debts but whose pre‑discharge debts continue to appear on their credit reports as due and owing with an outstanding balance
